Blessings and Bacon

Well it's been a month again... I really need to get back on the bacon blogging bandwagon. So much has happened!! First, I have a new job. Second, I moved back home to Orange County. Third, life is just AWESOME. I have no complaints whatsoever. I'm having a grand ole time.

I took a trip with my bestie Kate to Chicago to go wedding dress shopping and have a girls week, which was a much needed vacay, but celebrating upcoming nuptials is truly a lot of fun. In the next few years I will be doing a lot of celebrating the love. My cousin Kenny and Kara's wedding is this September. Christian and Kate is next August and my BFFL Courtney and Jeremy just got engaged!!! It makes me happy that everyone in my life is happy!! A lot of champagne has been drunk and I'm more than happy to continue popping the bubbly! Triple fisting.

While in Chicago on the last day before I headed off to the airport we stopped at The Weiner and Still Champion (as seen on Diners, Drive ins and Dives) for some deep fried bacon. Does that sound too good to be true?! My bacon reputation follows me everywhere.
First course: Country Fried Bacon!! Battered and fried to yumminess.

It was longer than my head!!

Sooo happy!!
After the appetizer I had a bacon wrapped hot dog dropped in the fryer. Om nom nom. Is this place heaven on earth?!
I love Chicago. I love bacon. I love friends!!! It was an amazing girls week. I am truly blessed.
Have a wonderful week all!

WORST bacon EVER

I had an AWE-ful time at Hume Lake with the Junior Highers from Clayton Community Church. They are all amazing and words can't describe how much I will miss each of them.

BUT while I was there I had the absolute WORST bacon I've ever had in my life... Pictures don't even do it justice, and I would've taken it to a court of law! There was hardened bacon grease chilling on top of all the bacon. It was super fatty, and I had to scrape the cold grease off with my fingers. You can see on the edge of the plate where I wiped it off. That grease would be good... If my dad fried tacos in it... But come on, I know I'm gonna need some major artery cleaning in the next few years but help a sista out!

Funky Fresh

I had an genius idea today. I want a body pillow and a cover for it that looks like bacon. I could snuggle with bacon all night long!! That'd be so comfy, and maybe I'd get out of bed faster because I would be ready for breakfast! Sleeping with a giant piece of meat. Hmm I'd like another piece of meat in my bed. Holler!!! Sorry, I will try to keep this blog G rated.

I'm packing up to move back to Southern California and in the process have been coming across a TON of bacon memorabilia. None of it is really used, but it's good to have. Feeding the addiction. This isn't even all of it... I still have a 5x10 storage unit that I have been without for almost a year. I'm sure there is plenty more bacon hiding out ready to be found!

***I deeply apologize for the poor picture quality. My iPhone 3GS does not cut it... But fear not, I am buying myself the NEW iPad next week!! ***

These were all given to me as gifts. I appreciate everyone's thoughtfulness and can never get enough bacon air fresheners (I think I have two more in storage). Now whoever wants to get on that bacon body pillow, I will be forever grateful!

Pigging Out @ Cheesesteak Shop

Time for another bacon foodie adventure. It happens randomly, and when my boss says, "lunch is on the company today" I jump for joy and am out-voted for my food choices because I am the only girl in the office. Not a big deal, The Cheese Steak Shop sounds good. I've had only one philly cheesesteak before in my life before and that was IN Philadelphia. I was on the rowing team and we made it to the rowing mecca of the world for the best race of my life. After we ran up the Rocky stairs we went to where he ate to be real Rocky champs. Please pause while I take a trip down memory lane....
Ahh that felt good. Anyways The Cheese Steak Shop in Walnut Creek had NO idea I would judge their Bacon & Cheese Steak Sandwich. (I just noticed I always capitalize Bacon and any Food I'm talking about, very respectful) Anyways, hold the onions and peppers, I don't need 'em. Just Bacon, Cheese and Steak. Om nom nom. I got the 10 incher.
Oh and leave room for some curly and steak fries. Gotta try it all! Like I said earlier.. Om nom nom, it was delicious and heavy and the bacon was up to par. Steak was delish and if ever we get lunch paid for again, I wouldn't mind the Cheese Steak Shop. Delish.

Pigging Out @ Jack in the Box

So we all know that Jack in the Box has brought the "Marry Bacon" craze ever since the Super Bowl. Which has seemed to blow up Bacon Mania in the US. Besides the bacon shake (which I still haven't tried), the BIG deal is the BLT Cheeseburger. This burger ties together two of my favorite meals, BLT and Cheese. It couldn't get better, welllll we will have to see about that. The first shot is of me taking it out of the wrapper... Pretty unassuming fast food burger.
Oh THERE is where all the ingredients are hiding.

Let's take a few bites...Ok first I need to point out the pickles... PICKLES?!? I don't hear a P in BLT. I was very offended that there were pickles in this BLT cheeseburger. I didn't even know I had to ask for none, strike one. Now is when I feel like a dummy, Jack in the Box got "creative" when in fact they threw another name on a Bacon Cheeseburger to get Bacon fanatics like me to try the food. What is different about this Burger than any other Bacon Burger? No Ketchup/ Mustard. YUP!! That's the ONLY difference. BLT Cheeseburger my butt... I could have gotten a much better quality bacon cheeseburger with the same ingredients and Chilis/Applebees. Plus a margarita which would make it SOO much better.

I would say C- for effort and C+ for taste. (Get the pickles OUT OF THERE!)

Around the word and back again

Forever and Ever. That's how much I love my mom. My mother is definitely the top 3 most important people in my life, and today marks a very special day for my family. 8 years ago on Friday, February 13, my mother received the call we had been waiting months for. There was a heart on it's way to UCLA Medical Center just for her. A new heart for Valentines Day!

This was 4 years after the transplant (my mother was always behind the camera, and we still don't hear the end of it) So I wasn't able to locate a picture before the transplant. But look at how beautiful she is, and none of this would be possible if the donor's family hadn't decided to donate his organs. We got the call at 3:33am and I remember my dad telling me as they were leaving, having a heart transplant at UCLA is like going to the dentist, you're going to come out alive. That's what kept me comfort, and still to this day I never have not worried that anything could go wrong, because everyone leaves the dentist office alive. The power of prayer and the love of family and friends got my family through. Life went along as normal, I didn't miss any dance classes or school, my brother got to all his soccer practices, and this amazing miracle happened to the most deserving woman. My love goes around the world and back again, forever and ever.

Happy Heart Day Mommy!!

The Wall

Facebook is a website. Social website. It's how I keep in touch with (and creep on) friends. My friends know I love bacon. I would like to share what is currently trending on my wall. (Not in order of posting)

First, and thanks to Jack in the Box and the Super Bowl ad, Bacon has re-exploded. My dear friend Andy posted the link to the new website. Visit it! A lot of bacon stuff to do! I also recommend the tumbler account from Neal in the commercial. It has a lot of good material.

My little Libby and bestie David both posted the bacon shake. My sister also called me to let me know that I should try it. I tried the Denny's bacon shake during Bacon-alia, it's something you need to try once, I told myself I never needed to again.. Well apparently there is a difference between these two shakes, Jack is only bacon flavored and not actual bacon pieces like Dennys. (For good reason because Jack doesn't use "real" bacon.) Maybe I will have to try another bacon shake.
My sorority sister Austin posted this about bacon roses. If a guy showed up to my door with bacon roses I will drop to one knee and propose to him then and there. (Not literally). My ex- boss has sent me this picture before in an email.. My bacon loving ways sure get around!

David was on a roll with Bacon postings and showed me the bacon tux available at marrybacon.com. Soo tempted to buy it because currently it's 50% off AND i've always wanted a tuxedo shirt. "Because it shows I want to be formal, but I'm here to party"
A new church friend and fellow Jr High Leader Justin posted about a yahoo article about 5 new uses for bacon. Pretty interesting and I may take a few pointers! Lastly also on the marry bacon website is where you can make a bacon baby!! Here is bacon Molly!! Isn't she adorable?! I could eat her right up!
